A QR Code (Quick Response Code) is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information like website URLs, plain text, contact details, or Wi-Fi credentials. When scanned with a smartphone camera, it instantly connects the offline world to digital content.
No. All QR codes generated on QR-Verse - both static and dynamic - never expire. Static codes work forever because the data is embedded directly in the pattern. Dynamic codes stay active for as long as your plan allows: on the Free plan one dynamic code is active at a time and the others are saved but paused, and a code you give an end date stops redirecting on that date. We do not impose artificial expiration dates or scan limits on any plan.
Yes! All QR codes generated on our platform are free to use for commercial and personal projects. Static codes have unlimited scans. The free plan includes 1 dynamic QR code - upgrade to Pro for unlimited dynamic codes.
Static QR Codes embed data directly and cannot be changed. Dynamic QR Codes store a short URL to redirect users, allowing you to edit the destination anytime and track scans. The free plan includes unlimited static codes and 1 dynamic code.
QR codes encode data into a grid of black and white squares. When you point your smartphone camera at a QR code, the built-in decoder reads the pattern, extracts the data (a URL, text, Wi-Fi credentials, etc.), and performs the corresponding action - like opening a website or connecting to a network. No special app is needed on modern smartphones.
QR-Verse supports 27 QR code types including: URL links, Wi-Fi network sharing, vCard digital business cards, email, SMS, WhatsApp, phone calls, social media profiles, PDF files, app store links, event details, location/maps, payment links (PayPal, Venmo), multi-link pages, and more. Each type is optimized for its specific use case.
No. You can create and download static QR codes instantly without creating an account. Signing up (free) unlocks dynamic QR codes with editable destinations and scan analytics; team management and campaigns are part of the Business plan.
A standard QR code can store up to 4,296 alphanumeric characters or 7,089 numeric digits. However, the more data you encode, the denser (and harder to scan) the QR code becomes. For long URLs, we recommend using a Dynamic QR code, which stores only a short redirect URL regardless of how long the destination is.
Creating a QR code is free on QR-Verse. Simply go to the Create page, select the QR code type you need (URL, text, WiFi, vCard, etc.), enter your content, customize the design if you wish, and download your QR code. No sign-up or credit card is required for static QR codes. The free plan also includes 1 dynamic QR code with scan analytics.
To generate a QR code for a website, go to QR-Verse's Create page, select the URL type, paste your website address (e.g. https://example.com), and click Generate. You can customize colors, add your logo, and download in PNG or SVG format. For websites that may change, use a Dynamic QR code so you can update the destination URL anytime without reprinting.
Yes. Copy the sharing link from your Google Form, go to QR-Verse's Create page, select the URL type, paste the Google Forms link, and generate your QR code. When someone scans the code, the form opens directly on their phone. This works for any web-based form or survey, including Google Forms, Microsoft Forms, Typeform, and SurveyMonkey.
Use QR-Verse's vCard QR code type to create a digital business card. Enter your name, job title, company, phone number, email, and website. When scanned, the contact information is automatically saved to the recipient's phone. For a modern approach, you can also create a Multi-Link QR code that opens a mini landing page with all your contact details and social media profiles.
Google Chrome can generate a basic QR code for the current page URL, but it offers no customization, analytics, or dynamic features. QR-Verse is a dedicated QR code platform that provides 27 QR code types, color and logo customization, dynamic QR codes with editable destinations, real-time scan analytics, and high-resolution PNG/SVG exports - all free to use.
On iPhone (iOS 11+), simply open your Camera app and point it at the QR code. A notification banner will appear - tap it to open the link. On Android (9+), open the Camera app or Google Lens and aim at the QR code. Most modern smartphones scan QR codes natively without needing a separate app. You can also scan QR codes from screenshots or images saved in your photo library.
Yes. On iPhone, open the screenshot in your Photos app, and use the built-in Live Text feature (iOS 15+) to detect and open QR codes. On Android, open the screenshot in Google Lens or your Gallery app's built-in scanner. Google Chrome on both platforms also lets you scan QR codes from images. This is useful for scanning QR codes received in messages, emails, or social media.
Business includes white-label scan pages, your own domains (up to 10), a brand kit, up to 5 team members and API access. Enterprise raises the limits (25 domains) and is arranged individually through our support team. Reseller sub-accounts, single sign-on (SSO) and shared templates are not available today. For several clients you work from one account, with campaigns and a domain per client.

Features & Customization

Can I add my logo to the QR Code?
Absolutely. Our generator allows you to upload a custom logo, which is placed in the center of the QR code. We ensure the code remains scannable by maintaining the necessary error correction levels.
What formats can I download?
We support high-resolution PNG for digital use and SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) for professional printing. SVG is recommended for billboards, merchandise, and large-format print to ensure perfect clarity.
Can I change the color of the QR Code?
Yes, you can fully customize the foreground (dots) and background colors. We recommend using a dark foreground on a light background (high contrast) to ensure the best scanning reliability across all devices.
What is the "Error Correction" feature?
Error Correction allows a QR code to be scanned even if part of it is damaged or covered (e.g., by a logo). We automatically set the optimal level (usually High or Quartile) when you add a logo to ensure functionality.
Do you offer bulk generation?
Yes. The web interface creates codes in bulk from a CSV file on the Business plan, with up to 2000 codes per file. Pro and Business plans also include API access to create codes programmatically: up to 3 API keys on Pro and up to 5 on Business. API requests are rate limited per key; if you reach the limit you get a 'too many requests' error and can try again shortly. For larger volumes or custom limits, contact our support team.
Can I track how many times my QR code is scanned?
Yes, all Dynamic QR codes come with a free analytics dashboard. You can see total scans, unique scans, scan locations (city and country), device types (iOS vs Android), browser information, and scan patterns over time. Static QR codes do not include tracking since scans happen directly on the user's device.
Can I change the destination of my QR code after printing?
Yes - this is the key advantage of Dynamic QR codes. You can change the destination URL, update content, or redirect to a completely different page at any time without reprinting the physical QR code. This is especially useful for seasonal promotions, event updates, or correcting mistakes.
Can I create a QR code for my WiFi network?
Yes. Our WiFi QR code generator creates a scannable code that stores your network name (SSID), password, and encryption type (WPA2/WPA3). When guests scan it, their phone automatically connects to your network - no typing required. Perfect for homes, cafes, hotels, and offices.
What is the minimum size for a scannable QR code?
For close-range scanning (e.g., business cards, flyers), the minimum recommended size is 2 x 2 cm (0.8 x 0.8 inches). For scanning from a distance, use the rule of thumb: the QR code should be at least 1/10th of the scanning distance. A billboard scanned from 3 meters away needs a QR code at least 30 cm wide.
How do WiFi QR codes work?
A WiFi QR code encodes your network name (SSID), password, and encryption type (WPA2/WPA3) into a standardized format. When a guest scans the code with their smartphone camera, the phone automatically reads the credentials and offers to connect to the network - no manual password typing needed. Create one on QR-Verse by selecting the WiFi type and entering your network details.
Can I create a QR code for payments?
Yes. QR-Verse supports several payment QR code types. You can create QR codes for PayPal.me links, Venmo payment requests, or any payment URL from services like Stripe, Square, or bank transfer apps. For European users, you can also encode EPC/SEPA payment data directly into a QR code that opens the banking app with pre-filled transfer details.
Can I use my own domain for my QR codes?
Yes, on Business (up to 10 custom domains) and Enterprise (up to 25). Pro does not include a custom domain. Your domain stays with your current provider: in its DNS settings you add a CNAME record that points your address to QR-Verse and a TXT record that proves you own the domain. Nothing on your website changes, and a subdomain such as go.yourbrand.com is the easiest choice. As soon as the records are visible, QR-Verse verifies them and switches on HTTPS automatically; DNS changes can take a few hours to spread. Codes you have already printed keep working, and codes you download after activation carry your domain.
How do I invite a team member?
Inviting team members is part of Business and Enterprise; on Free or Pro the button tells you the plan does not include it. On Business you can have up to 5 team members. You invite by email address under Account, Team, with the role admin, member or viewer, and the invited person accepts through the link in the email using the account on that same email address. If accepting fails, send us the invited email address and the error message.
My domain stays "partially verified", or scans still show QR-Verse. What do I do?
Verification needs two DNS records at your provider: a CNAME that points your hostname to QR-Verse and a TXT record that proves you own it; "partially verified" means one of the two is not visible yet. DNS changes can take a few hours, and QR-Verse rechecks automatically and switches on HTTPS as soon as both records resolve. Each hostname counts as one domain, so two subdomains use two of the 10 domains on Business (25 on Enterprise). Once the domain is active, switch on "Use my custom domain" in the settings of the code; its scans then run on your domain without a QR-Verse page.
Can I change the design or name of a code after creating it, and delete test codes?
Yes. In My codes, open the code: the edit tab holds the name and destination, the design tab the colors, shape and logo, and for a dynamic code the change applies to the printed code at once. Deleting or archiving is done from the code's menu in My codes; archiving is reversible, deleting is final. If a button does nothing, reload the page and try again, and send us the name of the code if it keeps happening.
Where do I find my API key, and what can I do with the API?
API access is included from Pro. Keys live on their own page, Account, then Settings, then API, where you also choose the permissions of each key. The API runs under /api/v1 and lets you create, read, update and delete QR codes and read the scans of a code; webhooks are set under Settings, then Webhooks. The endpoints are described on the API page under Features.

Billing & Plans

Is this service really free?
QR-Verse offers a generous free plan: unlimited static QR codes, 1 dynamic QR code, and basic analytics. Pro (€4.99/mo) unlocks unlimited dynamic codes, full analytics, AI art, SVG/WebP exports, and more. No credit card required to start. Paying yearly makes Pro €47.90 a year, which is €3.99 a month.
Are there any limits on scans?
No. We offer unlimited scans for all QR codes. Whether you have 10 scans or 10 million, your codes will continue to work perfectly at no cost.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No credit card is required. You can start creating static QR codes instantly without even creating an account. Signing up is free and unlocks dynamic QR codes with editable destinations, scan analytics, and team management. If you choose to upgrade to Pro or Business later, you can use a credit card, and cancel anytime with no commitment.
How does QR-Verse make money if it is free?
We sustain the platform through optional premium features for businesses (custom domains, team management, advanced analytics), non-intrusive partner recommendations, and enterprise plans. The core QR code creation and tracking features will always be free.
Are there watermarks on the free QR codes?
No. The QR code image itself is completely clean: no watermark, no logo and no "powered by" label on the code, and you may use it for personal or commercial purposes. One thing to know: on the Free plan a scan of a dynamic code first opens a short QR-Verse page before it continues to your destination (see Troubleshooting). Paid plans show no QR-Verse branding.
Where do I find my invoices?
In your account, open Settings, then Billing, and click "Open billing portal". The Stripe customer portal shows your full billing history: you can download invoices and receipts there and update your payment method. Your invoices stay available after your subscription has ended. Do you need different details on an invoice, such as a company name or VAT number? Contact our support team and mention the invoice number.
What happens to my QR codes if I cancel my subscription?
Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for; after that your account returns to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted. Static QR codes keep working, because their content is in the pattern itself. Of your dynamic QR codes the newest one stays active; the others are saved but paused, together with their scan history. A scan of a paused code opens a QR-Verse page that says the code is inactive instead of redirecting. In your dashboard you choose which code stays active, and if you upgrade again later, the paused codes switch back on automatically.
What is the difference between the plans for scans and analytics?
Scans are never limited, on any plan. The difference is in what happens at the scan and in how much history you see. On Free you can have one active dynamic QR code; a scan of it first opens a QR-Verse page with "Powered by QR-Verse" (it may show ads) before continuing to your link, and your analytics show the last 60 days. Older data is kept and becomes visible when you upgrade. On Pro the number of active dynamic codes is unlimited, the scan page carries no ads and no QR-Verse branding, and you see your full history and the advanced analytics. Business adds white-label scan pages and custom domains; Enterprise adds your own branding on the scan page.
What does a yearly plan cost?
Pro costs €4.99 per month, or €47.90 per year when billed yearly; that comes to €3.99 per month and saves €11.98 a year. Business costs €12.99 per month, or €125.88 per year; that is €10.49 per month and saves €30.00 a year. The yearly plan is billed once up front; you pick monthly or yearly on the pricing page and you can cancel anytime.
Can I pay by invoice, or have my VAT number and company details on the invoice?
Subscriptions are paid through the online checkout (Stripe); ordering on invoice with a purchase order is not available. Your invoices and receipts are in Settings, then Billing, via "Open billing portal". If you need a VAT number, company name or address on an invoice, or our company details for your vendor registration, email our support team with the invoice number and we reply with what is possible for your country.
Can I get a refund or withdraw from my purchase?
You cancel in Settings, then Billing, via the billing portal; your plan runs until the end of the paid period and does not renew. For a refund, email our support team from the email address of your account: the 30-day money-back guarantee on the pricing page applies to the first payment of a new subscription. AI-art credit packs are delivered immediately and are not refundable, as the terms state.

Troubleshooting

My QR Code is not scanning. What should I do?
First, check the contrast; dark on light is best. Second, ensure the QR code is not too complex (too many dots) by shortening the URL or data. Third, make sure the size is appropriate for the scanning distance (minimum 2x2 cm for close range).
The logo is blocking the scan.
Try reducing the size of your logo or choosing a higher Error Correction level if available. The logo should never cover the three large square finder patterns ("eyes") in the corners of the QR code, as scanners rely on these to orient the code. As a rule of thumb, the logo should occupy no more than 20-25% of the total QR code area. If problems persist, try simplifying the logo to fewer colors or a simpler shape.
Why does the SVG file look different in my browser?
Some browsers interpret SVG clipping paths and rendering differently, which can cause minor visual discrepancies. When opened in professional design software like Adobe Illustrator, Figma, or Affinity Designer, the vector paths render correctly. For the most accurate preview, open the SVG in your final design tool rather than a web browser. If you need a quick visual check, PNG format renders identically everywhere.
My QR code works on iPhone but not on Android (or vice versa).
This is rare but can happen with very complex or low-contrast QR codes. Ensure your code has strong contrast (dark on light), is at least 2x2 cm, and test with both iOS and Android devices before printing at scale. If using a Dynamic QR code, verify the redirect URL is accessible and not blocked by mobile firewalls.
My Dynamic QR code is showing the wrong page.
Log into your QR-Verse account and check the destination URL in your QR code settings. The most common causes are: a typo in the URL, the destination page was moved or deleted, or browser caching is showing an old version. Try clearing your browser cache or testing in an incognito/private window.
Can a QR code be too small to scan?
Yes. If a QR code is printed too small or the data it encodes makes it very dense, scanners may struggle. The minimum recommended size is 2x2 cm for close-range scanning. For dense codes (long URLs, vCards with many fields), increase the size proportionally. Always test before printing at scale.
When I scan my code, a QR-Verse page appears before my website opens. Is that a bug?
No, that is how the Free plan works. A scan of a dynamic QR code on the Free plan first opens a short QR-Verse page that says "Powered by QR-Verse" and then continues to your destination. The QR code image itself is clean: it carries no watermark. On Pro, Business and Enterprise your scans show no QR-Verse branding and no ads. An upgrade applies to your existing codes right away, so you never need to reprint them.
My QR code says it is paused or inactive. Why, and how do I reactivate it?
On the Free plan one dynamic QR code can be active at a time. Any other dynamic codes in your account, for example after a downgrade, are saved but paused: a scan opens a QR-Verse page that says the code is inactive, and your scan history is kept. To make a paused code active again, open your dashboard and choose it as the active code; the code that was active is paused instead. On Free you can switch up to three times in a rolling 30-day window. Upgrade to Pro and the limit disappears: codes that were paused by a downgrade switch back on automatically, the others you switch on from your dashboard. A code you scheduled behaves the same way: before its start date a scan shows "Not Yet Active", after its end date "No Longer Active". While a code is paused, not yet active or expired, scans are not counted and the links of a multi-link code stop forwarding, so their clicks are not counted either.
The login link does not arrive. What can I do?
A login link is valid for a limited time and works once; an older link in your inbox will not work after that, and if you requested several, only the newest one counts. Check your spam or junk folder, because the email comes from QR-Verse and sometimes lands there. Request a new link under "Magic Link" on the login page and open the newest email. If it still fails, send us the time of the request and the email address of your account via the contact page.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the login page choose "Forgot password?", enter the email address of your account and we send you a reset link; the link is valid for a limited time and works once. Open it, choose a new password of at least 8 characters and log in. Did you sign up with Google? Then you can simply keep using the Google button, or request a login link under "Magic Link".
I paid, but I cannot log in or create my account. What now?
After a payment without an account, QR-Verse creates the account for you on the email address you paid with, so signing up again on that address gives an error. Log in with a login link: choose "Magic Link" on the login page, enter that email address and open the newest email. If you prefer a password, choose "Forgot password?" on the login page and set one; the link is valid for a limited time. If you still have no access, send us the email address you paid with and the time of payment via the contact page.

Security

Do you track data from my scanned codes?
For Static QR Codes, we do not track any scan data. The interaction happens directly between the user's device and the data embedded in the code. We respect your privacy and that of your users.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use industry-standard encryption for all data transmission. We do not sell your personal data or the content of your QR codes to third parties.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, you can request full account deletion from your profile settings at any time. This permanently removes all personal data, saved QR code designs, analytics history, and team associations from our servers. The process is irreversible, so we recommend exporting any QR codes or analytics data you need before submitting the request. Deletion is processed within 30 days in compliance with GDPR.
Are QR codes safe to scan?
QR codes themselves are safe - they are just data carriers, like barcodes. However, a malicious actor could create a QR code that links to a phishing website or malware download. Always check the URL preview on your phone before opening it, and be cautious of QR codes on random stickers in public places. QR-Verse codes are always safe because we control the redirect infrastructure.
What is "Quishing" and how do I protect against it?
Quishing (QR phishing) is when attackers place malicious QR codes over legitimate ones - for example, sticking a fake QR code over a restaurant menu code. To protect yourself: always check the URL preview before tapping, look for signs of tampering on physical codes, and use a trusted QR code generator like QR-Verse that provides branded, verified short URLs.
Can QR codes contain viruses?
A QR code cannot directly install a virus on your phone. However, it can link to a malicious website that attempts to trick you into downloading malware. Modern smartphones show a URL preview before opening, giving you a chance to verify the destination. Legitimate QR codes from trusted sources (like QR-Verse) are completely safe.
Is it safe to share my WiFi password via QR code?
Yes, sharing WiFi via QR code is as safe as giving someone the password verbally or on paper - the QR code simply encodes the same credentials in a scannable format. For maximum security, use WPA2 or WPA3 encryption, set up a separate guest network to isolate visitors from your private devices, and avoid placing WiFi QR codes in publicly accessible exterior locations.
